It's time to post Painting Challenge Number 13 to you.
To sit in the dry sand of Mpaltwe (Honeymoon Gap) is to experience a sensation of hidden water (Kwatye) doing it's thing below your backside, because how else would the white gums and river gums survive?
Occasionally, after a heavy downpour water sweeps through Roe Creek here, driving muddy froth before it, only to disappear into the sand kilometres out south west of Alice Springs.
The tilted up sediments glow orange in the evening light, and on the cliff above. I climbed up to take a photo of the range sweeping away into the great western desert. That photo became the painting 'Yeperenye'.
